Nashville, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's track and field program will travel to Bowling Green, Ky. to compete in the WKU Invitational hosted by Western Kentucky University on Saturday, April 25th. The invite is the Flying Tigers last before preparing for the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship.
The meet is WKU's first in three years and will be held at the new Charles M. Ruter Track & Field Complex.
WKU was scheduled to host its first meet two weeks ago on April 10-11, but storm damage forced cancellation of the meet at the time. All damage has now been cleared and repairs have been made to allow for a quality competition this weekend.
Portions of teams scheduled to compete in the WKU Invitational are Austin Peay, Belmont, Bryan, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, Lipscomb, Louisville, Middle Tennessee, Murray State, Tennessee, Tennessee Tech and Union (Ky.).
The first event to be contested Saturday is the women's hammer, scheduled for 9:00am. Running events will begin at Noon with the women's 5,000 meters.
Next, the Tigers will compete in the 2009 OVC Outdoor Track and Field Championship hosted by Eastern Kentucky at the Tom Samuels Track in Richmond, Ky. The meet is scheduled for May 1-2, starting with the prelims in Friday and the finals concluding on Saturday.
