Flying Tigers Finish Fourth At OVC Meet

Buford Williams Claims OVC High Jump Title

The Tennessee State “Flying Tigers” men’s track team finished fourth at the 2008 Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field Championships run Saturday (5/03) at Southeast Missouri State in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Senior Buford Williams led the TSU team, scoring 30 individual points of the Tigers 77 overall points, and running a leg of the third place 4x100 relay. Williams won the High Jump (6-09.75), finished second in the Long Jump (24-05.50) and claimed third place in the 100 meter dash (10.84) and the Triple Jump (48-08.00). Buford ran the second leg on the 4x100 relay team that finished fourth (42.46).

Ryan Fraction finished second in the 110 hurdles (14.76), fifth in the 400 meter hurdles (55.01) and anchored the third place finishing 4x400 meter relay (3:17.01).

Flying Tigers scoring in the meet were: 100m-Brian Jackson, 6th (11.24); 400m-Iasiah Marshall, 3rd (49.18), Franz Holmes, 6th (50:39); 110m hurdles-Ryan Fraction, 2nd (14.76), Charles Parker, 4th (14.89), Jared Kelly, 6th (14.96); 400m hurdles-Roy Fraction, 4th (54.73), Ryan Fraction, 5th (55.01); 4x100 relay, 4th (42.46) ; 4x400 relay, 3rd (3:17.01) ; High Jump-Buford Williams 1st (6-09.75); Long Jump-Buford Williams, 2nd (24-05.50); Triple Jump-Buford Williams, 3rd (48-08.00); Discus-Minor Bowens, 3rd (149-08).
