FLYING TIGERS FINISH 5TH AT OVC CHAMPIONSHIPS -- RONALD MORRIS DOUBLE WINNER, HOWELL WINS IN PHOTO-FINISH --

Nashville, TN - Tennessee State's Ronald Morris captured first place in both the 200M (21.58) and 400m (47.13) events at the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field Championships. The Flying Tigers' Chris Howell captured the 100M dash with a photo finish, as both he and Morehead State's Todd Chisley were timed at 10.77. Senior Buford Williams won the Long Jump with a leap of 23'06.75". Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, who did not compete due to an ankle injury, has already qualified for the NCAA Regional. The TSU 4x100 meter relay team composed of Bryan Johnson, Christopher Howell, Ronald Morris, and Saihou Mbenga came in 2nd behind Eastern Kentucky with a time of (41.07), and the TSU x400 relay team composed of Bryan Johnson, Ronald Morris, Rickey Sayles, and Roy Fraction took 3rd with a time of (3:15.21) Morris' double wins qualify him for the NCAA Regional meet in the 200 and 400. Howell, who finished second to Morris in the 200M event has already qualified for the NCAA in the 200. All event winners along with any athletes hitting the NCAA Regional Standards gained berths at the upcoming NCAA Regional Meet, May 25-26, as the OVC is an automatic qualifier to the NCAA championships.
