TIGER TRACK TEAMS IN FIFTH, AFTER FIRST DAY OF OVC TRACK
The Tennessee State University Flying Tigers and Tigerbelles are in fifth place in their respective divisions after Day One of the Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field Championships at Eastern Illinois University. TSU's Buford Williams captured the Men's Long Jump championship with a jump of 23'06.75" and the Tigerbelles' Gladys Williams captured the Women's High Jump championship with a height of 5'07.00". Both will compete in those events at the upcoming NCAA Regional Championships as individual event winners will also receive a bid to the NCAA Regional Championships as the OVC Championships serves as an automatic NCAA qualifier for outdoor events. The OVC Track & Field Championships will continue on Saturday (5/05) with the final field events that were not completed on Day One and a host of running and relay events.
