TSU's Dominique Rodgers, participating in just his second outdoor track meet since completing Spring football drills, has qualified for the NCAA Regional Track meet in the Long Jump. Rodgers finished third at the Penn Relays in the College Long Jump event with a leap of 24-10.00 (7.57m). The NCAA qualifying standard is 7.34m. The jump is also the best performance in the Ohio Valley Conference this season in the Long Jump. The Tennessee State Men's track team will compete in the Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field championships at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois May 4-5. Rodgers, a 6-2, 175, junior from Bradenton, FL, was tabbed the OVC Indoor Track Championships Top Male athlete after capturing first place in the 60m dash (6.89), the Long Jump (25-00.75, and the High Jump (6-09.5). He also finished second in the Triple Jump (48-08.00). Dominique, a two-sport athlete, led the Ohio Valley Conference and NCAA I-AA in interceptions in 2006, finishing the season with six (6) picks.
