CHATTANOOGA --- The Tennessee State Tigerbelles competed in the Chattanooga FrontRunner Cross Country Invitational Saturday afternoon, the team's final event prior to the Ohio Valley Conference championships later this month. The Tigerbelles were one of six teams to run in the women's portion of the two-mile event held at Moccasin Bend. Tennessee State finished fifth in the field. Brittany Carpenter was the top TSU runner with a time of 12:54 to finish in 17th place overall, three seconds ahead of teammate's Rae'ven Richards' time of 12:57. Felicia Jeffers was 20th with a time of 13:06. Other TSU runners were Rahab Kagaruki (13:22), Gladys Williams (13:29), Jocelyn Gardner (14:45), Mildred Rachel (18:53), and Mariele Hill (19:44). Host Chattanooga rolled to the team win, with a score of 19. Middle Tennessee was second with a 52, followed by West Georgia 89, Austin Peay 98, TSU 105, and Fisk 173. The OVC Championships will be hosted by Eastern Illinois on the last weekend of the month in Charleston, Ill.
