ATLANTA --- Tennessee State won the team championship and Tigerbelle Rae'ven Richards was the top individual finisher at the Atlanta University Center Cross Country Invitational. The Tigerbelles slipped past host Clark-Atlanta by a 32-37 score to win the title as the team continues its improvement. Along with Richards, TSU took three of the top five finishes and four out of the top 10. Richards ran the hilly 5-K course at Mozley Park in a time of 31 minutes and 37 seconds. Richard finished 33 seconds in front of Clark's Inez Pickett. Brittany Carpenter was third with a time of 22.23 while Felicia Jeffers was fourth with a 23.19. Rahab Kagaruki was eight with a 24.37 while Tierra Boyd closed out the team scoring with a 16th place finish and time of 25.26. The Tigerbelles had originally been scheduled to run at Oglethorpe, but that meet had a schedule change. Benedict College was a distant third with 86 followed by Paine 88, Tuskegee 138, and Clafin which did not field a complete team for the event.
