NASHVILLE --- The Tennessee State Tigerbelles 4x400 relay tam closed the 2006 TSU Invitational Indoor Meet in dramatic fashion with a come-from-behind win, concluding a busy day of activity in the Gentry Center Sunday on the TSU campus. The 4x400 relay team of Tierra Boyd, Rebekah Robinson, Margertha McLean, and Dominque Ward ran a time, of 4:54.39, which was keyed by a strong anchor leg run by Ward. The 4x200 team also won as with a time of 1:45.79. Ward was also the top collegiate runner in the 200-mter dash with a time of 25.15. McLean finished second in the 400-meters with a time of 58.77. TSU's Latheria Lewis again won the shot put in a meet with a throw of 45 feet, 9.75 inches. Lewis was third in the weight throw with a 47-07.75. Teammate Kathy Onwu was third with in the shot put with a 40-04.75. Austin Peay's Sherlonda Johnson won the triple jump (37-03) and the long jump (19-05). Lipscomb's Ruth Mick was the top collegian runner in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.60. TSU's Ronald Morris won the men's 200-meters with a time of 21.71. Morris finished second in the 400-meters with a time of 48.93, just behind Southern's Kylon Wishom's time of 48.84. "I thought (the meet) went well and we made strides today," said Tigerbelles head coach Chandra Cheeseborough. "We want to keep moving forward as we work toward the OVC championships." TSU will host the 2006 Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Championships in late February.
