TSU HOSTS FIFTH ANNUAL EDWARD S. TEMPLE TRACK CLASSIC
NASHVILLE --- The Gentry Center was a busy place Sunday as Tennessee State University played host to the Fifth Annual Edward S. Temple Track Classic. The meet is named in honor of the legendary TSU and Olympic track coach. The meet began with the field events in the morning and concluded with the 4x400 relay for both the men and women late in the evening. "Although we did have a couple of teams pull out at a late date, overall we had a successful meet with some very good performances," said TSU Tigerbelles coach Chandra Cheeseborough. "As far as our own team, it is a starting point for us and we know what we must work upon to make improvement." Tigerbelle Felicia Jeffers won the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes 23.84 seconds. The Tigerbelle relay teams also captured the 4x200 meter relay with a time of 1:46.88 and the meet-ending 4x400 with a time of 3:56.74. TSU's Latheria Lewis continued her winning streak in the shot put, with a best throw of 44 feet and 8.25 inches. In the men's 200-meter dash, Ronald Morris won the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.90 seconds.
