TIGERBELLES OPEN CROSS COUNTRY SEASON IN CHATTANOOGA MEET

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. --- The Tennessee State University Tigerebelle cross country team made its 2005 debut, competing in Chattanooga's meet held last weekend at the Moccasin Bend course. The Tigerbelles were fifth out of six teams on the two-mile course. TSU's Rae'ven Richards posted her team's best finish at 24th with a time of 13:13. She was followed by Brittany Carpenter in 32nd (13:50), Felicia Jeffers 37th (14:24), Tierra Boyd 47th (15:34), Dominique Ward 48th (15:55), and Rebekah Robinson 51st (17:02). TSU finished with 141 total points. Ohio Valley Conference member Samford won with a 22, followed by host Chattanooga 38, Middle Tennessee 82, Covenant 122, the Tigerbelles, and Bryan 167. The Tigerbelles will compete in the Eastern Illinois Invitational Sept. 17.
