Buford Williams Did It For The TIGER Team Nashville's Maplewood H. S. graduate, Junior Buford Williams won the High Jump (6'8"), Long Jump (25'.01), and took a sixth place in the Javelin (153'), he also tried the Triple Jump in the Ohio Valley Conference Outdoor Championship, Buford is the indoor champ in the long jump. When asked why so many events Buford said "I did it for the team so we could get points", and that they did-finishing third in the OVC Championship this past week-end in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the campus of Southeast Missouri. Coach Kelly Carter was excited about this years team, he said "they came together as a team." When asked about Buford throwing the javelin, he said "Buford wanted to try it-so I gave him a chance." Presently, Buford is ranked 3rd in the Mideast region with his jump of 25'.01), he along with teammates Dominique Rodgers (100,200,TJ),Saihou Mbenga(LJ,TJ),Chris Howell (100,200, 4x400),Ronald Morris(200,400) will compete in the Mideast Regionals in Knoxville,TN on May 26 and 27. For his accomplishments at the OVC Championships, Buford was named 2006 Male Athlete of the Outdoor Championship
