CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. --- The Tennessee State men's track and field team had an impressive showing over the weekend at the Gatorade Classic hosted by Southeast Missouri State. The Flying Tigers, who had five top-five finishes, ended the competition in eighth place with a total of 34 points. Senior Nick Horton led the way for Tennessee State, grabbing the gold in the 200m with a time of 21.15. The time qualifies him for the NCAA Regionals. Also finishing in the top five were senior Jermie Harris, who took third in the 400m with a time of 49.07. Junior Marcus Morris crossed the line with a time of 14.67 in the 110m hurdles earning fifth. Morris also took sixth in the 400m hurdles with a time of 56.12. Coming away with top-10 finishes were junior Michael Smith in the 110m hurdles (10th, 15.09) and senior Eric Stanberry in the 800m (8th, 1:57.12). In the 4x100 relay, the Flying Tigers finished fifth with a time of 42.47. The 4x400m relay saw Tennessee State take the bronze with a time of 3:15.52. The Flying Tigers return to action on April 10 as they host the Boston-Moon Classic here at Tennessee State.
