vs Eastern Illinois (4-14)
Saturday, March 31 | 2 p.m.
Darling Courts | Charleston, Ill.
STARTING SERVE: The Tennessee State men's tennis team will visit Charleston, Illinois to reconvene conference play Saturday, March 31 at 2 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: Big Blue took the short drive to Clarksville, Tenn. to open conference play against the Austin Peay Govs. The Tigers had a rough start dropping two-of-the-three doubles matches.
Coming from behind, Shashank Nautiyal started the streak of Tiger victories at No. 3 defeating Aleh Drobysh, 6-4, 7-5. Stefan Koruga followed suit winning in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. Tanishq Mahendru and Pavle Popovic pushed through tiebreaker sets, also defeating their opponents, creating four wins for TSU.
SCOUTING EIU: The Panthers are 4-14 on the season, but 0-3 in the OVC after competing against Jacksonville State, Tennessee Tech and EKU conference-opening weekend, and are 0-3 when playing at home. Tennessee State will visit EIU where sophomore Freddie O'Brien has gone 8-8 at No. 1.
The Panthers conference success can be credited to its strong doubles play, as the men are winless in singles, but are 4-4 in doubles. Duo Jared Woodson and Gage Kingsmith are undefeated, and usually play on court one. EIU is returning six student-athletes who TSU beat 5-2 at home last season.
UP NEXT: The Tigers return to Huntsville, Ala. to play Alabama A&M at the Bulldog Tennis Courts Tuesday, April 3 at noon.
