SETTING THE STAGE: The Tennessee State men’s tennis team will start the spring season against Middle Tennessee Monday evening at the Adams Tennis Complex in Murfreesboro, Tenn. Match time for the non-conference competition is set for 5 p.m. Head coach Monroe Walker III will begin his third season at the helm of the Tiger program. Walker will look to improve his squad from a 9-14 record and ninth-place finish in the OVC last season.
RETURNERS: TSU returns all but two players, Amir Daniel and Second Team All-OVC selection Daniel Bernal, from last season's team. Returner Shashank Nautiyal led the team in doubles wins with 13 a season ago. Grant Maddox returns as the leader in singles wins with 14 followed by Kyle Burton who finished last year with 13.
LAST TIME OUT: TSU played in the HBCU Invitational in the fall to get ready for its spring competition season. The men had a strong showing in the invitational with multiple Tigers picking up wins against numerous opponents.
