BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Tennessee State men’s tennis player Daniel Bernal (Bogota, Colombia) was recognized for his standout senior season by earning Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference accolades, it was announced on Thursday. The award is voted on by the league’s coaches.
Bernal is the second TSU player to ever earn All-OVC honors, joining Lawrence Washington, who was named Second Team All-OVC in 2012.
Throughout his senior season, Bernal played at the No. 1 singles position, finishing with a record of 13-12 in singles and 7-15 in doubles. In OVC matches this season, Bernal defeated top singles players from Jacksonville State, Morehead State, Eastern Illinois and Austin Peay.
The Tigers finished the season with a 9-14 overall record in 2015-16 under the direction of second-year Head Coach Monroe Walker III.
