Tennessee State Men’s Tennis Signs Kato Richardson

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee State Tennis Head Coach Monroe Walker III announced the signing of Kato Richardson (Hendersonville, Tenn.) to a National Letter of Intent to join the TSU men’s tennis team in the fall of 2016 as a freshman.

“We are excited to have Kato for next fall,” Walker III said. “He is a local kid who is highly ranked in the state. He is a hard worker and very competitive. He will help us tremendously and be a great asset. I am looking forward to working with him next year.”

Richardson is wrapping up his senior year at Hendersonville after winning the District 9AAA and Region 5AAA Singles Championship in 2014-15. He earned District 9AAA MVP in 2014-15 and helped guide Hendersonville to HHS District 9AAA and Region 9AAA Team Championships from 2013 to 2015.

Individually, he was a State TSSAA Singles Quarterfinalist in 2014 and a State Semifinalist in 2015. Richardson ranked 11th in the state of Tennessee and ranked in the top 200 in the South by Tennisrecruiting.net.

He was named 2014 County Player of the Year by The Tennessean and earned a spot on The Tennessean's All-Midstate team as a junior in 2015.
