OPENING SERVE: The Tigers jump into Ohio Valley Conference play with a five-match homestand beginning with Tennessee Tech on Friday, March 18, and Jacksonville State on Saturday, March 19, at Hadley Park. The Tigers are 2-1 in their last three matches entering conference play.

LAST TIME OUT: The Tigers suffered a 6-1 setback versus South Dakota State on March 13 as part of the team’s spring break trip in Orlando, Fla. In doubles, Jorge Rodriguez (Bogota, Colombia) and Shashank Nautiyal (Delhi, India) played their way to a 6-4 victory at the No. 3 position. Grant Maddox (Greenbrier, Tenn.) also added a victory in singles action, winning by scores of 7-6, 0-6, 10-8 at No. 6 singles.

ABOUT TENNESSEE TECH: The Golden Eagles enter Friday’s match with a 4-5 record, coming off a 5-2 defeat at Georgia Gwinnett on March 12. So far this spring, Tennessee Tech has scored wins over Lipscomb, Chattanooga, Radford and USC Upstate. Eduardo Mena has been dominant at the No. 1 singles position, posting a 21-5 overall record.

ABOUT JACKSONVILLE STATE: Carrying a 4-9 overall record, the Gamecocks have gone 1-6 in their last seven matches. Andres Gomez and Liu Shao Chun pace Jacksonville State with five singles wins apiece. The Gamecocks will take on Belmont on Friday, March 18, before heading to TSU.

LAST SEASON VERSUS OPPONENTS: Kyle Burton (Madison, Tenn.) won his No. 4 singles match in last year’s 6-1 loss at Tennessee Tech. Last season versus Jacksonville State, the Gamecocks handed TSU a 7-0 loss.
