NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University men’s and women’s tennis teams traveled to Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State this weekend for Ohio Valley Conference play.
The men’s team (0-8, 0-4 OVC) dropped both matches to the Colonels (11-5, 4-0 OVC) and the Eagles (4-10, 2-2 OVC). The women’s team (0-5, 0-4 OVC) also fell to the Colonels (8-6, 3-0 OVC) and the Eagles (5-5, 3-0 OVC).
The women’s team first fell to Eastern Kentucky on Friday by a score of 6-0. Attallah Eiland, Phyllicia Hemphill, and Brittney Harris all fell 6-0, 6-0 in their matchups while Adrianne Presley fell 6-0, 6-2 in hers. The fifth and sixth points for EKU were not contested.
The women then faced Morehead State on Saturday and lost to them 6-0.
The men’s team was also swept in both of its match at EKU but put up a little fight at Morehead State before falling 6-0. Both Kyle Burton and Grant Maddox won the second set in their matchups forcing a decisive third set in which their Morehead State counterparts won.
Both tennis teams will continue on the road this week as they travel to Alabama A&M on Tuesday.
