Tigers Unable to Break Skid Against TTU in Season Ending Match

Nashville, Tenn. – The Tennessee State University men's tennis team dropped their final match of the 2009 in Ohio Valley Conference play to Tennessee Tech, 7-0, Saturday afternoon at the TSU Tennis Complex.

The Tigers conclude the season with an overall record of 0-12 and 0-8 in OVC play. The Golden Eagles move to 11-7 overall and claim the top team conference record at 6-2.

In their final matches for TSU, seniors Jaala Brooks and Michael Mosley suffered losses in the No. 3 and No. 4 play. Brooks dropped 6-0, 6-2, to Alex Chen and Mosley lost, 6-1, 6-0, to Justin Kristein.

TTU garnered the doubles point taking the No. 1 and No. 2 matches, 8-3, 8-1. Justin Hamm fell in No. 1 singles play to Dean O'Brien, 6-0, 6-0.

The Tigers lost five sets by 6-0 retiring the No. 5 play and defaulting No. 6.

As a result of their conference record, TSU is eliminated from play in the 2009 OVC Tennis Championship hosted by Eastern Kentucky in Paducah, Ky. The Championship will be held April 17-19th.
