NASHVILLE --- The final round of the Big Blue Invitational produced a great battle for the individual title. Junior Jermey Fultz and Evansville’s Tyler Gray entered Tuesday’s play tied at 3-under for the tournament, but as the two battled, UT Martin’s Hunter Richardson charged by to claim the title.
Richardson carded his second consecutive 69, to finish at 3-under, two shots ahead of Gray and three in front of Fultz who placed third in the event at Even. The finish is the first top five result for Fultz this season.
UT Martin claimed the team title, seven strokes ahead of Detroit and 20 ahead of Murray State. The TSU white squad remained in fourth place, while the blue squad fell a couple spots to 10th in the field of 13.
The white squad was paced by Fultz and the play of Drew Owens and Todd McGill. Owens shot a 2-over, 74, while McGill relied on his putting, draining three putts from over 15 feet on his way to five birdies on the day.
Scotty Hudson posted the final scoring round for the white squad, just ahead of John Tyminski who recorded a 6-over, 78, during the final round.
