JACKSON, Tenn. – The Tennessee State men’s golf team concluded play at the Grover Page Classic hosted with similar play. The two-day tournament hosted by UT Martin at the Par-72, 6,776 yard Jackson Country Club saw four Tigers card scores within a shot of each other.
Freshman Drew Owens led the way with a 2-over, 74 and was followed by Todd McGill, Jermey Fultz and Sam Gatlin who all posted a 3-over, 75. Rosario Falzone was able to shed three strokes from yesterday’s rounds, finishing with a 9-over, 81.
As a team, TSU fired a 299 on the final day to finish ninth in the 12 team field. Arkansas State led from start to finish and teamed for an 18-under, 846.
McGill (83-72-75=230) continued his solid play from round two with a pair of birdies during the final round. The junior used strong wedge play on 14 and 17 to set up putts of six feet and 11 feet, respectively, to convert on the 1-under’s.
The Tigers be back in action on Sunday for the three-day Bobby Nichols Classic hosted by Tennessee Tech.
