BUCHANAN, Tenn. – The Tennessee State men’s golf team is tied for fourth after the first two rounds of the Skyhawk Fall Classic at Paris Landing State Park on Monday. The Tigers carded a 26-over, 602 on the Par-72, 6,685 yard signature course of the Tennessee State Park system, which is part of the Tennessee Golf Trail.

Murray State and Alabama State are tied for the lead in the 11-team field at 13-under. The host, UT Martin, is five strokes behind the leaders heading into the final session.

Freshman Rosario Falzone hit 23-of-28 fairways, 25 greens and recorded eight birdies on the day. The first year is tied for 17th out of 73 golfers at 4-over. Falzone found success with the irons hitting to three feet or closer on three holes during the morning round and another in the afternoon.

Falzone continued his success in the second round, draining putts from five and ten feet for birdies on No. 6 and No. 11, respectively. The Nashville native went to his 3-wood on many occasions including on the par-5, 16th, where he was able to reach the green in two, allowing Falzone to two-putt for his final birdie of the day.

Falzone fired a 2-over, 74 in both sessions and is tied for 17th heading into Tuesday’s final round. Fellow freshman Sam Gatlin equaled Falzone’s score in the morning before falling off the pace with a 6-over, non-scoring 78 in the afternoon.

Todd McGill and Drew Owens each shot a 4-over, 76, in the first round and a 3-over, 75, during the second. McGill stayed consistent throughout the day by hitting 24-of-28 fairways and 25 greens. The junior used a pair of up-and-downs for par from the bunkers on No. 9 and No. 13 through the first 18 holes. McGill capped the day by knocking a 7-iron to six feet on No. 13 for birdie to close out the second round.

Senior Blake Burgett fired a non-scoring 79 early in the day and came back by picking up points for TSU later in the day with a 6-over, 78.
