Two Tigers Seven Strokes Off Lead at Skyhawk Classic

BUCHANAN, Tenn. - Tennessee State played the first 36-holes of the Skyhawk Classic at the Paris Landing State Park Golf Course. The Tigers posted a 4-over 292 in the morning round and a 6-over 294 during the afternoon session on the Par-72, 6,685 yard course.

TSU is in 10th place, 7th among D-I's, in the 14-team field heading into Tuesday's final round. The Big Blue sit 19 strokes behind first place John A. Logan and 14 behind second place Lipscomb.

Senior Cameron Scitern and sophomore James Stepp are tied for 22nd with a two-round 1-over 145, just seven strokes behind leader Brandon Cauldwell (6-under 138) of Southern Illinois. Scitern shot a team best even par 72 in the first round, while Stepp equaled the feat in the afternoon. Both shot a 1-over 73 in their other rounds.

Andrew Warner (73-75) is just three shots behind Scitern and Stepp with a 4-over 148. Dallas Hill (5-over 149) scored for the Tigers in the morning with a 2-over 74, but did not score in the second round with a 3-over 75. Shane Sampier shook off a non-scoring 77 in the first round to post a 2-over 74 on the final round of the day. Sampier is six strokes behind the TSU leaders with a 7-over 151.

Matt Campbell, playing as an individual, is tied for 60th with a 10-over 152 (75-77).

TSU will play the final round of the Skyhawk Classic on Tuesday morning. A shotgun start is scheduled for 8:30 a.m.
