HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. -- It took four years for Cameron Scitern to record a career best 69, but it only took 24 hours to match the score. The feat gave the senior a second place finish at the Austin Peay State University Intercollegiate. Colin McCarty of SIU-Edwardsville shot a 4-under 68 to edge Scitern by one shot at the Par-72, 7,132 yard course at the Links at Novadell on an 80 degree day.
Scitern (69-70-69=208) entered the day in a tie with McCarty and proceeded to card five birdies against two bogies over the first 16-holes of play. With two holes to play, Scitern attacked the par-5 9th and was on the green putting for birdie. But the putt caught the edge of the cup and lipped out, just missing an opportunity to create a tie on top of the leaderboard.
As a team, TSU shot their second straight 9-over 297 to end the tournament with a 30-over 894. The Tigers (300-297=597, 21-over) finished in 12th out of 14 teams.
James Stepp (75-75-74=224) used birdies on the par-5 9th and the par-5 18th to close out play with a 2-over 74. Stepp jumped eight spots in the standings to finish in a tie for 34th. Andrew Warner (74-77-77=228) shot eleven pars to go along with a birdie on the par-5 3rd to enter the clubhouse 5-over on the day and 12-over for the tournament.
Dallas Hill (82-76-78=236) picked up his lone birdie for the round on the par-5 15th, as he finished at 20-over. Codie Welborn (82-76-78=236) found a groove 13 holes into the round when he birdied holes eight and ten. Hill and Welborn finished tied for 74th in the field of 81.
The Tigers concluded their fall schedule and will be back in action on March 11, 2013 to start the spring season.
