Men's golf concludes day one of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate

Springhill, Tenn. - The Tennessee State University men's golf team finished the first round in fifth place but shot a total of 296 in the second to fall to an eighth-place tie after day one of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate at the King's Creek Golf Course.

As a team, the Tigers opened up the intercollegiate shooting 288 in the first round (8-over-par). However, they followed shooting 15 strokes over for a total score of 583 on the day.

OVC opponent, Murray State, currently sits out in front shooting rounds of 280 and 288 for a total of 568 (8-over-par).

TSU's Chris Seibel led all competitors at the end of the first round shooting 3-under-par for 67 but shot 73 (3-over-par) in the second to break even at 140. Seibel is currently tied at ninth to lead the Tigers in the individual standings.

Ryan Smith opened up scoring 3-over-par at 73, but returned in the second round to shoot 1-under-par at 69 to close out day one at 142 (2-over par).

Richard Gill and Christopher McKay both scored 154 going 14 over to round off the Tigers' top four. Gill registered identical rounds of 77 and McKay followed with stroke counts of 71 and 83.

Day two and the final round of the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate will begin at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5.
