Nashville --- Cameron Scitern has signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf at Tennessee State University according to head coach Chip Taylor.

Cameron Scitern won the Starburst Junior Golf Classic, the second biggest junior tournament in the United States. As a junior at Caldwell High School last season, Scitern finished seventh in Class 3A at the UIL Golf Championships.

“I am very excited to announce the signing of Cameron Scitern to the 2009-10 freshman class,” commented head coach Chip Taylor.

Scitern was the 2009 District 24AAA Champion and helped his team win the Red River Challenge Cup in 2008. He also helped team USA win at the International Junior Golf Invitational in Mexico.

Scitern, a recipient of the Texas Junior Golf Tour Golden Heart Award, won the Region 3A Championship and the District 23 AAA Championship in 2008.

Additionally, the Rockdale, Texas native also hosts the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation Charity Golf Tournament.

“Cameron is a very accomplished player, but he is an even better young man. He has played well in several large national events. His experience and talent will be a real asset to our men’s golf program. I believe he will be an immediate leader on our team and across campus.”
