TIGER GOLF TEAM THIRD IN SHORTENEDJACKSONVILLE STATE TOURNAMENT

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. --- Tennessee State men's golf team finished third in the shortened Jacksonville State University Grub Mart Intercollegiate. Tuesday's final round was cancelled due to severe weather and strong thunderstorms. The Tigers and the 12-team field had played almost nine holes before severe weather forced the field into the clubhouse. With thunderstorms forecast for the remainder of the day in the Jacksonville area, the decision was made to cancel the final round at the par-72, 6,822-yard Silver Lakes Golf Course on the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. TSU had shot a 576 in the 36-holes played on Monday. Host Jacksonville State claimed the title with 566, three strokes ahead of second place Tennessee Tech. Robert Dinwiddie was named to his second all-tournament team in three days. Dinwiddie had a three-under par 141 to finish third overall and finish three strokes off the medalist score of 138 shared by JSU's Scott Stallings and Tech's Julian Colmenares. Dinwddie was named to the five-man all-tourney team. Stu Michaels just missed a top 10 finish for the Tigers with an 11th place finish and a 144. Other TSU scores were Lawrence Larson 145, Phillip Watkins 150, and Jordan Roberts 155. Murray State placed fourth with a 582, followed by Samford (583), Southeast Missouri State (586), Morehead State (589), Lipscomb (594), Jacksonville State's Red Team (595), Tennessee-Martin was 10th with a 605.
