TIGER GOLFERS PLACE EIGHTH IN SAM HOUSTON STATE FIELD OF 18 TEAMS
HUNTSVILLE, Texas --- The Tennessee State golf team posted a solid showing in the Tigers' first appearance in the Sam Houston State Bearkat Classic that concluded Saturday afternoon. The Tigers shot a 54-hole total of 908 to finish in eighth place in the field of 17 teams. TSU had rounds of 303, 295, and 310 on the par-71, 6,945 Raven Nest Golf Course. TSU senior Robert Dinwiddie had rounds of 75, 72, and 74 to finish with an eight-over par 221. No golfer in the field of 89 golfers shot par for the event. The top individual score was a one-over par 214 by Stephen F. Austin's Trevor Sauntry. McNeese State won with an 875, 10 strokes ahead of Stephen F. Austin's 885. TSU was four strokes behind Oral Roberts and finished 13 strokes ahead of Big East Conference member Boston College's total of 921. TSU's Phillip Watkins and Lawrence Larson each shot a 227 to finish in a tie for 25th. Stu Michaels shot a 234 while Jordan Roberts shot a 237.
