TIGERS GOLFERS IN FIFTH PLACE HEADINGINTO FINAL ROUND OF OVC CHAMPIONSHIPS
PADUCAH, Ky. --- The Tennessee State men's golf team stands in fifth place after Tuesday's second round of the 2004 Ohio Valley Conference Championships being played at the Paducah Country Club. After shooting a 305 in the opening round, TSU came back with a 314 to have a 619 heading into Wednesday's final round. OVC newcomer Jacksonville State carries a six stroke lead into the final round with a 600. TSU's Robert Dinwiddie, one of four players to shot a 71 on Monday, had a 78 Tuesday and stands in a fourth place tie with a 148. Phillip Watkins shot is in a seventh place tie with rounds of 78 and 74 for a `52.Other TSU scores are Mark Searle 157, Jordan Roberts 161, and Stu Michaels 164. Murray State is second with a 606, followed by Austin Peay 609, Eastern Kentucky 617, TSU 619, Samford 621, Tennessee Tech 623, Tennessee-Martin 624, Morehead State 632, Eastern Illinois 633, and Southeast Missouri 647. The third and final round of the 54-hole tournament on the par-72, 6,915-yard course will begin Wednesday morning.
