TIGER GOLF TEAM SIXTH IN ECU EVENT;BELMONT TOURNEY BEGINS MONDAY

GREENVILLE, N.C. --- The Tennessee State men's golf team began a busy and challenging stretch of its spring season by finishing sixth in a field of 21 teams in the East Carolina Bradford Creek Invitational that concluded Saturday afternoon. The Tigers will have little time to recover from their long trip as they return to Nashville for a practice round Sunday before starting play in the Belmont Invitational on Monday in Franklin. At ECU, TSU shot a 54-hole total of 874 on the par-72, 7,130-yard course. Campbell University unseeded defending champion UNC-Wilmington, firing an 852, six strong ahead of the defending champions. TSU was led by Robert Dinwiddie, who a two-under par, 214. Other Tiger scores were Stu Michaels 221, Mark Searle 222, Phillips Watkins 226, and Jordan Roberts 231. The Tigers will be playing in another large field at the Belmont Invitational, which is to be played at the Legends Club of Tennessee. A total of 19 teams will gather for the tournament, including seven from the Ohio Valley Conference. The teams will be playing 36 holes on Monday, with the final round of 18 on Tuesday.
