TIGER GOLFERS STRETCH LEAD TO WINSECOND SPRING TOURNAMENT IN AS MANY OUTINGS

EASTOVER, La. --- The Tennessee State men's golf team built its lead in the final round of the University of New Orleans Methodist Sportscare Intercollegiate to win its second tournament in as many outing this spring. The victory in the UNO event followed the pattern of the Tigers first win earlier this spring when the Tigers pulled away from the field on the final day of play. Carrying three-stroke lead after shooting a 301 on Monday, the Tigers came back with a tourney-best 296 on Tuesday to finish with a 597, nine strokes ahead of second-place Southern Illinois' 606. TSU was led Robert Dinwiddie and Mark Searle who each shot a 148 to finish in a tie for fourth place among the individuals on the par-72, 7,002 Eastover-Gator Course. Searle had led after Monday's play with a 71 and shot a final round 77. Dinwiddie, the medalist in the first tournament at Samford, came back with a final round 70 after shooting a 78 the first day. Jordan Roberts also posted a top 10 finish, with two rounds of 75 to finish with a 150 and in ninth place. Other TSU scores were Phillips Watkins 152 (17th) and Stu Michaels 156 (t28). Freshman Matt Buley, playing as individual, shot a 171. Following second place SIU were Eastern Illinois 610, Nicholls State 616, Jackson State 617, Missouri-Kansas City and UNO 618, Indian Hills and IUPUI 626, Southeast Missouri 634, Siena 636, and Alcorn State 648.
