DINWIDDIE WINS MEDALIST HONORS IN PLAYOFF;TIGERS MOVE UP ONE SPOT TO FINISH THIRD

BAY ST. LOUIS, Miss. --- Tennessee State golfer Robert Dinwiddie captured the medalist honors of the Nicholls State Gulf Coast Classic while the Tigers moved up one spot to finish third in the tournament, which concluded Tuesday afternoon. Dinwiddie, who won medalist honors last spring in the Ohio Valley Conference Championships, picked up where he left off to slip past Jason Vaughn of North Alabama and Steve Luminais of host Nicholls State. All three golfers fired a 137. As a team, the Tigers had rounds of 290 and 291 to finish with a 581 on the par-72 6,770 yards The Bridges course. North Alabama held on to its first day lead to finish with a 573 while Nicholls State slipped past the Tigers with a 580 to finish second. TSU’s Stu Michaels also had a strong tournament with a 142 to finish in a fifth-place tie. Other Tiger scores were Mark Searle 151, Jordan Roberts 154, and Fraser Inglis 160. Rounding out the team scores were Louisiana Tech 586, Tennessee-Martin 599 and Jackson State 599, Birmingham Southern 603, Newman 607, Lipscomb 611, Centenary 612, New Orleans 613, and Tennessee-Chattanooga 622.
