TSU Takes Seventh at Asics Embry-Riddle Classic

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. --- The Tennessee State men’s cross country team secured seventh place at the Asics Embry-Riddle Classic on Saturday. It was the team’s first 8K of the fall.

Freshmen Larry McNary and Marcus Abdul were the top two finishers for TSU on the day. McNary crossed the finished line in 29:46.0 for 31st with Abdul not far behind in 29:55.8 for 35th overall.

The host team Embry-Riddle took the top spot with 24 points. The Flying Tigers finished with 185 points for seventh place.

MEET NOTES

  • Saturday marked the second meet of the season for the Flying Tigers and the first 8K for the team.
  • Senior Jontue McDowell, who was TSU’s fourth-place finisher at the Golden Eagle Invitational on Sept. 2, jumped up to third on the team with a time of 32:39.6.
