Tigers Finish Sixth at PowerAde Invitational

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee State men’s cross country squad finished sixth at the UT Chattanooga PowerAde Invitational on Friday afternoon.

Quamel Prince finished the 5K event in a time of 16:52.31; good for an 18th place finish in a field of 42 runners. Prince was followed by Jontue McDowell (19:09.43), Theodore Nicholson (19:36.63), Shaquille Cragwell (20:28.58) and Jason Griffin (21:30.50).

Two Tigers cut into their times from a week ago at the Belmont Opener.  Nicholson cut 25 seconds off of his 5K run from the first meet of the season, while Griffin chopped 1:29 from his finishing mark set six days prior.

Posting non-scoring times for the Tigers were Isaiah Olige (21:39.14), Jemarruse Amos (23:29.48) and Kenji Anderson (25:22.07).

The Tigers will continue their season on Sept. 26 as they travel to Tallahassee, Fla. for a meet at Florida A&M.
