Cross Country Ends Season At OVC Championships
OXFORD, Ala. – The Tennessee State cross country season came to an end today at the Ohio Valley Conference Championships on Saturday. Both squads finished 12th at the Oxford Lake Course in Oxford, Ala.
The Tigerbelles finished the 5K run 16 points behind UT Martin and 26 behind Tennessee Tech, while the Tigers were 81 points back of Jacksonville State in the 8K event.
Freshman Kenyana Hampton (20:00.61) and Oteia Prince (20:11.03) crossed the line back-to-back for TSU and were followed by Christian Pryor (20:38.55), Kalya Pryor (21:49.69), Diera Taylor (21:54.78) and Breanna Adams (24:02.81).
Sophomore Quamel Prince (28:03.27) led the men to the tape. Theo Nicholson (29:30.85) crossed next for the men, trailed by Kwame Robinson (30:41.79), Jalon McCutcheon (34:25.13), and Jakeenan Guthrie (34:48.46).
Eastern Kentucky grabbed the title in both races, as well as the individual honors. Ann Eason claimed the women’s honors in a time of 17:04.73, while Ambrose Maritim broke the tape at 23:59.29.
