Cross Country Completes Final Tune-Up Before OVC Championships
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Tennessee State cross country teams returned to the course after a five week layoff as they ran at the Front Runner Invitational in Chattanooga. The women ran a two mile run, while the men competed in a 5K.
The Tigerbelles finished fifth as a team behind event winners Middle Tennessee, host Chattanooga, Mercer and Lipscomb. The Tigers placed sixth behind MTSU, UTC, Lipscomb, Auburn-Montgomery and Florida A&M.
Freshman Kenyana Hampton paced the women in a time of 12:38.27 and was followed by Oteia Prince (12:47.91). Christian Pryor (13:04.16), Kayla Pryor (13:34.26) and Diera Taylor (13:36.26) all posted scoring times for TSU.
Sophomore Quamel Prince led the men to the tape in a time of 17:02.79. Theodore Nicholson crossed the line next for the Tigers in 17:26.92, ahead of Kwame Robinson (17:27.32), Jalon McCutcheon (19:36.67) and Jakeenan Guthrie (20:41.30)
This was the final tune-up foe TSU before the Ohio Valley Conference Championships. The two squads will travel to Oxford for the OVC meet on Nov. 1.
