OPENING TIP: The Tennessee State men’s basketball team returns to action Saturday, Jan. 25 in the CFSB Center to take on the undefeated Murray State Racers. Tip is set for 7 p.m. on ESPN+. The Tigers are 12-8 after falling 99-74 to the only other undefeated team in the league, Austin Peay, Thursday, Jan. 23 in Clarksville, Tenn.

LEADING THE OVC: The Tigers lead the Ohio Valley Conference in blocked shots, averaging 4.5 blocks per game, with Jy'lan Washington, Wesley Harris and Emmanuel Egbuta ranked in the top 15 in the league. 

TSU is also second in three-point field-goal percentage, averaging 35.7 percent from the distance and in rebounding margin, grabbing 6.5 more boards than its opponents. 

ALL-TIME SERIES: The Racers lead the all-time series against TSU, 55-17. Big Blue is on a three-game losing streak with a 100-62 loss in 2019, and a 76-57 loss in 2018. When taking on the Racers in Murray, the Tigers are 6-31 in the all-time series.

TSU is 1-4 in the last four seasons versus Murray State, with just one win at home. Four games between the foes have gone into overtime, three in Murray. TSU’s record in OT games versus the Racers is 1-3. The teams have met six times in the first round of the OVC Tourney, all games in Murray, and all games won by Murray.

LAST TIME OUT: The Tennessee State men's basketball team fell to Austin Peay, Thursday night in the Winfield Dunn Center, 99-74. Freshman guard Mark Freeman scored a team-high 19 points. 

The Tigers entered the break down just nine before offensive efficiency fell to just 32 percent from the field and 14 percent from three-point distance during the second half. 

The Preseason OVC Player of the Year Terry Taylor, along with freshman guard Jordyn Adams scored 37 points a piece to account for 75 percent of Austin Peay's offense. 

Jy'lan Washington added 17 points, nine rebounds for Big Blue, who scored 38 points in the paint.
