OPENING TIP: The Tennessee State men’s basketball team hosts Eastern Kentucky at the Gentry Center on Saturday night in the final home game of the regular season for the Tigers. TSU will honor seniors Delano Spencer, Darreon Reddick and Ken’Darrius Hamilton with a ceremony prior to tipoff. A win on Saturday would guarantee TSU its third-consecutive winning season, accomplishing the feat for the first time since posting four-straight winning seasons from 1992-96.
LAST TIME OUT: Delano Spencer put up a career-high 32 points to lift TSU to an 83-74 win over Morehead State on Thursday night at the Gentry Center. The Tigers have now won seven games in a row. Spencer, who made a career-best seven three pointers, helped the Tigers shoot 50 percent (25-of-50) from the floor. The Tigers led for 33:37 of the 40 minutes. Darreon Reddick (12), Kamar McKnight (11) and Armani Chaney (10) also scored in double figures for TSU on the night.
SEVEN IN A ROW: TSU is outscoring its opponents by an average of 11.7 points per game on its current seven-game winning streak. A win would give the Tigers their longest winning streak since putting together nine-straight wins during the 2011-12 season.
ABOUT EKU: The Colonels, who are coming off an 84-73 loss at Belmont on Thursday, are led in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (6.7 rpg) and blocks (1.4 bpg) by junior forward Nick Mayo.
LAST MEETING VERSUS THE COLONELS: After a back-and-forth opening 12 minutes, TSU took control of the game in a 73-60 road win at EKU on Feb. 3. Delano Spencer tallied a team-high 20 points to guide the Tigers, while Darreon Reddick added his second career double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. TSU shot 50 percent (24-of-48) from the field in the victory.
ALL-TIME SERIES: TSU’s record in the all-time series versus Eastern Kentucky stands at 29-33.
