OPENING TIP: Winners of four in a row and five of its last six, the Tennessee State men’s basketball team hosts Belmont on Thursday, Jan. 8 at the Gentry Center. The game is the second half of a basketball doubleheader and will begin 25 minutes after the conclusion of the women’s game – which is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Thursday will mark the first of two meetings between TSU and Belmont this season.

PROMOTION: As part of the Greek Night celebration, any fans wearing Greek paraphernalia will receive half-price admission.

LAST TIME OUT: TSU extended its winning streak to four games thanks to a 73-60 road win at Eastern Kentucky on Saturday night. The Tigers shot 50 percent (24-of-48) from the floor and had a 36-25 rebounding edge. Delano Spencer scored a team-high 20 points, tying a career high with six made three-pointers, while Christian Mekowulu added 19 points and five rebounds. Picking up his first double-double of the season and second of his career was Darreon Reddick with 11 points and 10 rebounds.

ABOUT BELMONT: The Bruins, who have won eight games in a row, are led in scoring by Dylan Windler (17.2 points per game).

LAST SEASON VERSUS THE BRUINS: TSU fell to Belmont in both matchups last season. The Bruins won the Jan. 28 game at the Gentry Center by a 93-76 margin. In the Feb. 25 meeting at the Curb Event Center, TSU fell by a 68-63 final score.

ALL-TIME SERIES: TSU is 11-17 in the all-time series versus Belmont. TSU’s last win in the series came on Feb. 28, 2016 – an 87-72 victory at the Gentry Center.

UP NEXT: TSU plays at Jacksonville State on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m.
