OPENING TIP: Looking to even its Ohio Valley Conference record, the Tennessee State men’s basketball team heads to Edwardsville, Ill. for a road test at SIU Edwardsville on Saturday night. The Tigers have won two of their last three games entering Saturday’s game, which is the first of two meetings between the two sides this season.

LAST TIME OUT: Five Tigers scored in double figures to lead TSU to a 69-65 victory at Eastern Illinois on CBS Sports Network on Jan. 11. It was the first time TSU had five double-digit scorers this season. Delano Spencer, Darreon Reddick and Kamar McKnight scored 12 points apiece to lead the offense. The Tigers trailed by 11 points in the first half before making a comeback. TSU forced EIU into 22 turnovers and held the Panthers to 37.7 percent shooting.

ABOUT SIUE: Led by Jalen Henry’s 16.9 points and 7.9 rebounds per game, SIUE is 6-10 overall and 2-3 in Ohio Valley Conference games. The Cougars had won two in a row, beating Eastern Kentucky and Morehead State, before falling to Belmont on Jan. 11.

LAST SEASON VERSUS SIUE: TSU cruised to a 76-56 road win over the Cougars in last year’s meeting on Jan. 25, 2017. In the victory, TSU had five players score in double figures led by Delano Spencer, Darreon Reddick and Wayne Martin with 14 points apiece. The Tigers shot 57.1 percent from the floor on the night and outscored SIUE in the paint by a 34-18 margin.

ALL-TIME SERIES: Tennessee State is 7-1 versus SIUE in the all-time series. The Tigers are 2-1 versus the Cougars under fourth-year Head Coach Dana Ford.

UP NEXT: TSU returns to Nashville for a four-game home stand beginning on Thursday, Jan. 18 versus Austin Peay at 7:30 p.m.
