OPENING TIP: The Tennessee State men’s basketball team plays its second Big 12 Conference opponent of the season, squaring off with Texas on Monday, Dec. 18, at the Frank Erwin Center on ESPN2. Four Tigers are putting up 10-plus points per game led by senior guard Delano Spencer and his 15.7 points per game. Texas received votes in the Dec. 11 AP Top 25 Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll.

LAST TIME OUT: Despite 17 points from Delano Spencer, TSU fell by a 64-54 margin at North Carolina A&T on Dec. 15. Ken’Darrius Hamilton (15) and Kamar McKnight (10) also scored in double figures. TSU’s 10 turnovers were tied for the second fewest by the Tigers this season.

ABOUT TEXAS:  The Longhorns are 7-3 on the season, most recently defeating Louisiana Tech, 75-60, on Dec. 16. Texas, now in year three under Head Coach Shaka Smart, is 5-1 at home this season. Texas has four players averaging double figures including Mohamed Bamba, who is putting up 11.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game.

ALL-TIME SERIES: TSU is 0-1 in the all-time series versus Texas, falling by an 84-72 final score on Nov. 30, 1987. Monday will mark TSU’s second-ever trip to the Frank Erwin Center.

UP NEXT: TSU travels to West Lafayette, Ind. to take on Purdue on Thursday, Dec. 21 at 6 p.m. ET (5 p.m. CT). The game will air on national TV on the Big Ten Network and on the radio on 102.1 The Ville.
