OPENING TIP: The Tennessee State men’s basketball team hits the road for the second time this season – taking on Kennesaw State on Saturday, Nov. 25 at the KSU Convocation Center in non-conference action. Coming off a 60-52 win over Canisius on Nov. 21, the Tigers are led in scoring by a trio of seniors: Delano Spencer (16.0 ppg), Ken’Darrius Hamilton (11.5 ppg) and Darreon Reddick (11.0 ppg).
LAST TIME OUT: TSU overcame an 11-point deficit in the second half to earn a 60-52 home win over Canisius on Nov. 21. The Tigers limited Canisius to 17 points in the second half on 7-of-22 shooting (31.8 percent). Ken’Darrius Hamilton posted team highs for points (19) and rebounds (8) in the win.
ABOUT KENNESAW STATE: The Owls, who compete in the Atlantic Sun Conference, are 1-4 on the year with a victory over Piedmont. Former Boston College coach Al Skinner is in his third season at Kennesaw State and is coming off a 14-18 record in 2016-17.
ALL-TIME SERIES: TSU holds a 3-1 record in the all-time series versus Kennesaw State. The Tigers won the first three matchups before Kennesaw State earned a 76-73 win over TSU at the Gentry Center last season. TSU is 1-0 versus Kennesaw State in games played at the KSU Convocation Center - a 56-49 victory on Nov. 28, 2015.
LAST SEASON VS. KENNESAW STATE: TSU fell to Kennesaw State by a 76-73 final score in last year’s meeting at the Gentry Center. The Tigers trailed by 14 points but were able to take the lead with four minutes to play. Kennesaw State secured the win with nine free throws in the final 1:36 of the game. The Owls shot 43.6 percent (24-of-55) from the floor and won despite 21 turnovers.
