OPENING TIP: The Tennessee State men’s basketball team is looking to even its season record at 2-2 with Tuesday night’s showdown with Canisius at the Gentry Center. TSU, which is coming off a 75-65 loss to Middle Tennessee, is 2-0 in the all-time series versus Canisius. Through three games, senior guards Delano Spencer (16.0 ppg) and Darreon Reddick (13.7 ppg) are averaging double figures to lead the offense.

LAST TIME OUT: A strong second half was not enough in Saturday’s 75-65 loss to defending Conference USA Champion Middle Tennessee at the Gentry Center. TSU outscored the Blue Raiders by a 39-35 margin in the second half, but MTSU shot 25-for-50 (50.0 percent) for the game. Armani Chaney tallied team highs for points (14) and assists (4) to go with a career-best five rebounds for TSU.

ABOUT CANISIUS: Canisius is 1-2 on the season after going 18-16 and earning a berth in the Postseason Tournament a year ago. The Golden Griffins are TSU’s third opponent so far this season that appeared in postseason play (NCAA, NIT or CIT) in 2016-17.

ALL-TIME SERIES: TSU is 2-0 in the all-time series versus Canisius. The Tigers won the first matchup on Jan. 11, 1964 and followed up with a 72-58 victory over the Golden Griffins last year on Nov. 23, 2016. Tuesday will mark Canisius’ first-ever trip to the Gentry Center.

LAST SEASON VERSUS CANISIUS: TSU earned a 72-58 victory over Canisius on the road in last year’s meeting on Nov. 23, 2016. The Tigers shot 28-for-54 (51.9 percent) from the field and limited the Golden Griffins to 19-for-54 (35.2 percent) shooting. TSU held a 45-31 rebounding edge and scored 36 points in the paint to Canisius’ 16 on the day.

UP NEXT: The Tigers will travel to Kennesaw State to take on the Owls on Saturday, Nov. 25. The game will begin at 7 p.m. ET (6 p.m. CT) and air live on ESPN3.
