FREE ADMISSION: TSU Faculty and staff members will get into the game for free with a canned good donation and a valid TSU ID.

OPENING TIP: Coming off a 92-53 win over Reinhardt, the Tennessee State men’s basketball team hosts former Ohio Valley Conference foe Middle Tennessee on Saturday afternoon. TSU, which is 1-1 on the season, has had four different players score in double figures in the first two games. The Tigers are looking to beat MTSU for the second-consecutive meeting – It would be the first time accomplishing the feat since the 1997-98 season.

LAST TIME OUT: Tennessee State secured its first win of the season by a 92-53 final score over Reinhardt on Nov. 13 in the home opener. Senior guard Delano Spencer scored a career-high 22 points to lead three Tigers in double figures. Ken’Darrius Hamilton (19 points) and Kamar McKnight (14 points) also reached double digit scoring. TSU shot 36-for-66 (54.4 percent) from the field and held the Eagles to 19-for-63 shooting (30.2 percent).

ABOUT MIDDLE TENNESSEE: The Blue Raiders, which compete in Conference USA, have advanced to the Round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament in each of the last two seasons. MTSU is 2-1 on the season, falling to Belmont by a 69-63 final score on Nov. 16. MTSU received votes in the most recent AP Top 25 poll on Nov. 13.

ALL-TIME SERIES: TSU holds a 17-38 record in the all-time series versus Middle Tennessee. TSU won last year’s meeting to snap MTSU’s 10-game winning streak in the series. The last time TSU won two in a row against MTSU was during the 1997-98 season. The first meeting between the two sides was Dec. 7, 1973.

LAST SEASON VERSUS MTSU: TSU, which was the only team to defeat Middle Tennessee by double digits a year ago, earned a 74-63 victory over the Blue Raiders in Murfreesboro on Nov. 19, 2016. It was TSU's first win the series since Nov. 20, 2000 and first road victory against the Blue Raiders since Jan. 19, 1994. The Tigers shot 51.1 percent from the field and outrebounded MTSU by a 36-26 margin. Then-senior Wayne Martin posted a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds while fellow senior Tahjere McCall led all scorers with 23 points.

HEAD COACH DANA FORD
- On Facing MTSU
“Middle (Tennessee) is one of the best programs in the country the last couple years. One of very few who have been able to win a game in the NCAA Tournament, and we were fortunate enough last year to win the game (at MTSU). Hopefully we can duplicate that, but it will take a really good effort from our guys.”

UP NEXT: TSU hosts Canisius at the Gentry Center on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 7 p.m. on the OVC Digital Network and on the radio on 102.1 The Ville.
