BROOKLYN NETS PRESS RELEASE  | TAHJERE McCALL BIO

NASHVILLE --- Former TSU men’s basketball standout Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.) will suit up for the Brooklyn Nets for the 2017 NBA Summer League, it was announced on Monday.

“It feels like a dream,” McCall said. “I always dreamed about getting an opportunity but I never really expected it to happen. Right now I feel like I'm living my dream.”

The Nets' Summer League team is scheduled to compete July 7-17 in Las Vegas, Nev. with games airing on NBA TV, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU.

McCall, who won Ohio Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Year as a junior and a senior for the Tigers, led TSU to a 37-24 record in his two seasons in Nashville. The native of Philadelphia, Pa. posted 14.3 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 2.8 steals per game during his senior season in 2016-17.

The 6-5 guard earned First Team All-OVC twice and holds the TSU record for most and second-most steals in a single season. Since the end of the college basketball season, McCall worked out with a number of NBA teams, saying he performed well during the Nets workout.

“A couple of the guys I worked out with got drafted, so it was fun. We just really competed and played hard. Everybody was communicating and talking, that helped us push each other through the workout. It was a fun environment. The coaches had good energy and brought a good vibe, so it was really good.”

Each summer league team in Las Vegas will play three games before the July 12 playoffs start where each team will play at least two more games. The championship game is scheduled for July 17 and will air on ESPN.
