OPENING TIP: In the final home regular season game of the season, the Tennessee State men’s basketball team hosts Eastern Kentucky on Saturday night. The game will serve as Senior Night and the 18th annual Courtside Dining.
SENIOR NIGHT: TSU will honor seniors Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.), Wayne Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Jordan Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) before the game. The trio accounts for 36.8 points, 21.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists per game this season. Both McCall and Martin were named Preseason All-OVC, while Reed is in his first season on the court for TSU after transferring from Binghamton.
OVC PLAYOFF PICTURE: TSU enters Saturday in eighth place in the OVC standings. The top eight teams will qualify for the OVC Tournament in March.
LAST TIME OUT: TSU secured its second-consecutive winning season with a 64-52 home victory over Morehead State on Thursday night at the Gentry Center. TSU held the Eagles to 27.0 percent shooting on the night and outscored the visitors by a 36-16 margin in the paint. Wayne Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up his 10th double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds, while Darreon Reddick (Belleville, Ill.) scored 13 points.
ABOUT EKU: The Colonels (10-18, 3-10 OVC) are coming off a narrow four-point loss at Belmont on Thursday night. Reigning OVC Freshman of Year Nick Mayo scores 17.8 points per game for Eastern Kentucky, which averages 71.0 points per game as a team.
LAST TIME VERSUS EKU: Wayne Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) put up 14 points and 17 rebounds in a 63-49 road win at EKU on Jan. 12. TSU led for more than 34 of the 40 minutes in the game. The Tigers held EKU to 19.2 percent shooting from 3-point range and 34.0 percent overall from the field.
ALL-TIME SERIES VERSUS EKU: Tennessee State is 27-33 in the all-time series versus EKU.
