BRENTWOOD, Tenn. --- Tennessee State men’s basketball redshirt senior Jordan Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) was honored for his standout performance versus Middle Tennessee by earning adidas Ohio Valley Conference Co-Newcomer of the Week, it was announced on Monday.
Reed, who sat out last season after transferring from Binghamton, led all scorers with 23 points to go with nine rebounds in TSU’s 74-63 win over Conference USA Champion Middle Tennessee on the road on Nov. 19. It was TSU's first win over MTSU since 2000 and snapped the Blue Raider's 10-game winning streak in the series. The win along with three wins at the Cable Car Classic earned TSU a vote in this week's Associated Press Top 25.
Four games into his TSU career, Reed is averaging 12.5 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, helping lead the Tigers to a 4-0 record.
In his Division I career, Reed has scored 981 points, including 50 for TSU in 2016-17.
Reed is the second Tiger to earn an OVC award this season, joining Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.), who took home OVC Player of the Week last week.
The Tigers look to move to 5-0 when they take on Canisius on Wednesday, Nov. 23, in Buffalo, N.Y.
