Tahjere McCall Earns OVC Player of the Week

BRENTWOOD, Tenn. ---Tennessee State men’s basketball guard Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.) earned Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week for his standout performance at the Cable Car Classic, it was announced on Monday by the OVC office.

The redshirt senior guard put up 15.3 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game, helping TSU to its first 3-0 start since the 1994-95 season.

In the season-opening victory over UC Davis, McCall scored a team-high 20 points to go with six assists, six steals and five boards. He went on to register 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals in TSU’s win over Northern Arizona.

Completing the sweep of the weekend, McCall aided the Tigers’ winning efforts versus Santa Clara with 10 points, four rebounds and four assists.

It is McCall’s second career OVC weekly honor after taking home OVC Newcomer of the Week on Jan. 11, 2016.

The Tigers return to action on Saturday with a road game at Middle Tennessee at 6:30 p.m.
