OPENING TIP: The Tennessee State men’s basketball team will host Nashville-based opponent Fisk for a home exhibition game at the Gentry Center on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 7 p.m.

ABOUT TSU: Coming off a 20-11 record and a trip to the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament, Tennessee State begins year three of the Dana Ford Era with heightened expectations. The Tigers were selected to finish second in the East Division of the OVC Preseason Coaches Poll as well as the OVC Media Poll. Three starters are back including Preseason All-OVC selections Tahjere McCall (Philadelphia, Pa.) and Wayne Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
ABOUT FISK: The Bulldogs, which compete at the NAIA level, posted an 8-23 record in 2015-16 and are 0-1 on the season following a 92-81 loss at Lindenwood-Belleville on Oct. 29. Senior forward Craig Juedy scored a team-high 15 points for the Bulldogs in the opener. Fisk held a 36-33 halftime edge, but Lindenwood-Belleville outscored the Bulldogs by a 59-45 margin in the final 20 minutes to earn the win.
LAST SEASON VS. FISK: In last year’s regular season home opener, the Tigers cruised to a 72-50 win over Fisk at the Gentry Center on Nov. 18, 2016. Wayne Martin (Brooklyn, N.Y.) picked up a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Darreon Reddick (Belleville, Ill.) added 14 points of his own. TSU outrebounded the Bulldogs by a 47-34 margin and forced Fisk into 20 turnovers.
ALL-TIME SERIES VS. FISK: TSU has gone 16-3 versus Fisk in regular season meetings.
UP NEXT: TSU officially opens the season at the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, Calif. The Tigers will go toe-to-toe with UC Davis (Nov. 11), Northern Arizona (Nov. 12) and Santa Clara (Nov. 13).
