TSU Men's Basketball Preview - Wings
Darreon Reddick has scored in double figures 18 times in his TSU career

The 2016-17 Tennessee State men's basketball season begins with a Nov. 3 home exhibition game versus Fisk at the Gentry Center. TSUTigers.com will provide a preview leading up to the season. Wing players are featured in today's preview.

NASHVILLE --- Veterans Darreon Reddick (Belleville, Ill.) and Jordan Reed (Philadelphia, Pa.) are two experienced players Head Coach Dana Ford will rely on to bring production and leadership to the Tennessee State men’s basketball team in 2016-17.

Reddick is a two-year starter for TSU who has averaged 6.7 points and 2.8 rebounds per game during his career with the Tigers. Now entering his junior season, Reddick looks to build on his career, which includes 18 double-digit scoring games in 62 appearances.

For Reed, this season will mark his first on the court for TSU after sitting out last season per NCAA transfer rules. During his three seasons at Binghamton University in New York, the 6’4 wing earned All-Conference honors twice. Reed scored 931 points for the Bearcats and led the America East Conference in rebounding twice.

Jalen Duke (Nashville, Tenn.), who starred at Martin Luther King Magnet High School, gained experience in practice last season as a redshirt.

Freshman Daniel Cummings (Toronto, Ont.) brings international experience to TSU having represented Canada at the U-17 FIBA World Championships and the FIBA Americas U-16 Championships.

TENNESSEE STATE HEAD COACH DANA FORD
“We’ve been really pleased with the wings. They are veteran guys, so that makes it a little bit easier, but we’re trying to bring along a couple of our new guys so we can really add some depth on the wing. We’d like to play anywhere from five to six guards consistently, which will allow us to defend the way we like and hopefully be fresh enough to finish stronger than we did last year. We’re working on shooting the ball better, decision making and ball toughness, but we really like them defensively. They can all sit down and guard their position and that makes life easier for everybody else.”
